A MINER under directions to isolate at the Tanami mine has been fined after being found three blocks away from his room and not wearing a mask.
The 38-year-old man was given a $5056 fine on Sunday morning for failing to comply with the directions of the Chief Health Officer.
According to NT Police, the man left his room on Saturday evening, but was still within the mine site when located.
“This man’s actions breached two of the Chief Health Officer Directions. The gentleman was escorted back to his room by mine security,” Incident Controller Shaun Gill said.
“He has been flown to Darwin to complete the remainder of his quarantine period under supervision and at his own cost at Howard Springs.”
