NT Police spent several hours searching for a woman in the waters of Rapid Creek last night after she jumped into the water following a disturbance.

NT Police Northern Watch Commander Senior Sergeant Siiri Tennosaar said when police had attended a disturbance near the Rapid Creek footbridge about 7.30pm yesterday, a 30-year-old woman had jumped into the waters of the creek and tried to swim away.

Holding concerns for the woman’s welfare, Water Police launched a vessel in a bid to locate her.

They found the woman safe on dry land, having left the water on her own, just before midnight.

She did not sustain any injuries.
