A WOMAN who was caught on tape kicking a Darwin security guard in the face during a “horrendous year of offending” has finally walked out of jail after almost six months behind bars.

Storm Jazmin Dippel pleaded guilty in the Darwin Local Court to a string of offences including recklessly endangering serious harm, assaulting police and various driving offences.

Her lawyer, Mark Thomas, told the court Dippel had received death threats over social media after the footage of her kicking the security guard became public, an incident he said was partly sparked by the use of alcohol and antidepressants.

“She received a series of messages via Facebook which included death threats which were made to her in consequence, apparently, of the publicity that this particular incident received,” he said.

“The long and the short of it is she suffered threats to her in consequence of her involvement in this incident which caused her significant concern, so that’s something, in my submission, that can be taken into account by the court.”

In handing Dippel a seven month and seven day jail sentence, suspended immediately, judge Stephen Geary said prior to 2020, she had largely kept out of trouble before going “straight off the rails”.

“The year 2020 can be summarised for you as a horrendous year of offending, you just lurched from one criminal activity to the next,” he said.

Mr Geary said despite ordering her release, he still held concerns about “the company you keep, including your partner Jesse Martin, who makes a number of appearances in these files”.

“It’s a concern to the court that your view of making a fresh start is to go with him to Queensland,” he said.

“That’s your choice of course but I’d really urge you to use your time when you get out of prison to undertake any rehabilitation that’s suggested by the probation officer and really look into making a fresh start.

“I wish you all the best for the future, please keep out of trouble and I really hope we don’t see you again.”

Dippel also copped a total of more than $2500 in fines and spent almost six months in prison after she was taken into custody on December 21 last year.
