A woman was rushed to hospital today after she was bashed on the head and back with a metal pole.
The 37-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted today while in the community of Ampilatwatja during a domestic violence incident at 5.30am.
Police were called to the remote community after the woman presented at the local clinic with serious injuries.

Initial reports indicate a 39-year-old man, who is known to the woman, assaulted her to the back, shoulders and neck area with a metal pole.
The man fled the area, but was found and arrested by police, and is expected to be charged with various offences relating to this assault, later today.
The woman was flown to the Alice Springs Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Investigations into the assault continue with forensic officers and detectives from the Southern Investigations Division travelling to the remote community today.
Police urge anyone with information which may assist with investigations to contact them on 131 444 or report it anonymously to Crime Stoppers and referred PROMIS number 9401782.
