A WOMAN, who allegedly used a length of chain to smash the windows of a car belonging to a Darwin Council alderman as it was parked at a suburban McDonald’s, has been arrested and charged.
In a post on his personal Facebook page on Saturday, alderman Gary Haslett posted a series of photos and videos of a woman allegedly smashing the windscreen, rear screen, mirrors and body of his red Volkswagen with a piece of chain, while the vehicle was parked outside McDonald’s in Johnston where he was eating lunch.
NT Police Northern Watch Commander Senior Sergeant Vicki Koum said officers went to the scene about 12.30pm and located a 27-year-old woman there.
“She had a chain and padlock wrapped up in newspaper – it was the kind of chain length that goes around a bike or gate,” she said.
