A 28-YEAR-OLD Darwin woman has been struck over the head with a bottle after returning home to find an intruder ransacking her unit to steal alcohol this morning.

NT Police said that around 12.30am on Friday morning the woman returned to her home on Bradhurst Court in Bayview to discover an unknown man trying to exit through her front door at the same time she was trying to enter.

The man allegedly hit the woman with a bottle of alcohol and then escaped through the front door.

The woman suffered a minor cut to her forehead as a result of the incident.

Watch Commander Len Turner said it appeared as though the man had scaled a rear balcony and then entered through an unlocked balcony door.

Police allege he then searched the place for alcohol.

The man has been described as tall, slim and wearing a grey T-shirt and jeans.
