SHOCKING video footage has captured the moment a supermarket worker was knocked to the ground after confronting an alleged booze thief in Palmerston.

NT Police are calling for information following an alleged assault of an female employee at Moulden Supermarket at about 8pm on Monday.

Police allege an unknown man entered the business before stealing a quantity of alcohol and fleeing the location.

A female employee attempted to stop the man but was overpowered and suffered minor injuries.

Police arrested an 18-year-old man in relation to the offence on Wednesday after putting a call out for a person of interest.

The man was located in Palmerston and he was taken into police custody.
