Darwin River Volunteer Bushfire Brigade Captain Hennie Molzer said the DR3 Toyota Landcruiser 75 series was stolen from the station on Darwin River Road sometime between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning.
It’s described as having a cracked windscreen, red and blue lights on the roof and fire stickers along the side and on the bonnet.
Mr Molzer said the team was devastated that someone would steal from a group of volunteers.
“It’s very disappointing, that’s the worst part about this whole thing, that they would do something like that,” he said.
“To set up a vehicle like that costs around $80,000.”
He said the vehicle was actually in need of repair and was just being stored at the station.
“We were just storing it to go back to Bushfires and someone thought they needed it worse.”
