NT Police Southern Watch Commander Darrell Kerr said about 4am, a group of offenders had “gone through” a house in Braitling and stolen keys and a white Subaru station wagon.

They then drove off in the vehicle.

“There were a few sightings of the vehicle in the CBD, and police had numerous cars out,” Watch Commander Kerr said.

“The vehicle was found abandoned and recovered at 4.30am on the corner of Erumba St and Angguna Ave.

“It was found in the middle of the road and taken to the police compound for forensics.”

Watch Commander Kerr said a white Holden sedan with one car light out had been seen driving around at the same time as the stolen car, and police believed its driver may have also been involved in the incident.

He said in a separate incident earlier in the morning, shortly after 3am, a person sleeping in their home in Gillen had been disturbed by a young offender wearing a hoodie.

The intruder got away with a set of vehicle keys, though not the vehicle.

He urged anyone with information about either incident to call Alice Springs Police or Crimestoppers.
