A TAXI driver bravely grabbed the hand of a knife-toting teenager after she jumped into his cab and demanded money.

The girl and another, both aged between 14 and 15, approached the taxi at 11.40pm overnight, which had arrived on Shiers St, The Narrows, after accepting a job.

One of the teenagers got into the front passenger seat while the other went up to the driver’s window.

Watch Commander Greg Pusterla said the two girls demanded money and when the 24-year-old taxi driver refused, the teen in the car produced a small kitchen knife.

He said the driver grabbed the hand of the teen with the knife.

The duo fled the area when another taxi arrived at the scene.

Senior Sergeant Pusterla said the man had a superficial cut to his hand.

He said the duo had not been found but police were investigating.
