LOCALS in Yuendumu will likely be able to watch proceedings in the murder trial of police officer Zach Rolfe via the internet after lawyers on either side agreed to the feed.
The parties had previously expressed concerns about unauthorised access to the livestream but a more detailed proposal canvassed in the Supreme Court on Wednesday allayed those fears.
“I don’t think it was ever proposed that it would just be a broadcast to the world at large,” Chief Justice Michael Grant said.

“And I think we get over any difficulty about unregulated or unsupervised access to YouTube even within the Yuendumu community if it’s done by way of a direct broadcast to a single locality or facility.”
The trial is due to start in July.
