Drink driving: A guide to safe drinking

TWO people — one a heavily pregnant woman and the other a 13-year-old boy — have been arrested after they were caught drink driving in the Top End overnight.

Northern Watch Commander Tony Bennett said patrols and breath tests returned some “surprising and disheartening results”.

In Katherine, during a routine RBT, police breath tested a 29-year-old woman, who was also heavily pregnant at the time.

“The female will be facing charges at a later date of driving without a licence and driving with high range breath alcohol,” he said.

Additionally, police stopped and breathalysed a 13-year-old driver in Palmerston.

“NT Police continue to urge all drivers to drive safely on the roads and if you are thinking about having a drink – don’t drive, for your safety and the safety of all.
