EARLIER: NORTHERN Territory Police are investigating a series of unlawful entries and two assaults that occurred in and around Ludmilla yesterday.

In one incident, a young child was assaulted by a man not known to her around 5.30pm.

He fled after being interrupted by the child’s sibling.

The offender is described as being approximately 165 centimetres tall, with brown skin, black hair, wearing a white t-shirt with the number 53 on it, dark navy shorts and no shoes.

Around 11pm a woman was at home in The Narrows when an intruder entered through an unlocked door and allegedly assaulted her before fleeing.

Police are canvassing the area and calling for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said, “We are urging anyone who saw anything out of the ordinary to contact us on 131 444 as soon as possible.

“We also remind people to be aware of their personal security and always secure their homes and vehicles, and do not leave any valuables in plain sight.”

Northern Watch Commander George Matthews said three out of the four break-ins in the Ludmilla area were due to unsecured premises.

“One unlawfully entry occurred when a door was unlocked by the offender by making a hole in the flyscreen and manually unlocking the screen door with their finger, as the door wasn’t locked by a key” he said.

“People are reminding people to ensure that font doors should be locked, especially when out the back of the premises and valuables such as keys, wallets and jewellery should be kept out of sight.

“Vehicles should also be locked and valuables not left in them.

“This is a timely reminder to “Lock it or lose it”.
