A PERSON has died following a single vehicle crash on the Stuart Highway in Central Australia on Friday night.
According to NT Police, the car left the road, hit a tree and caught fire around 60km north of Alice Springs at about 6pm.
Inquiries to confirm the identity of the deceased are ongoing.
Detectives from Southern Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
