One dead, four hurt in horror, single-vehicle road crash in Central Australia

UPDATE: More details have emerged of a fatal crash that killed a 29-year-old woman in Central Australia.

The 29-year-old woman was a passenger in a car that rolled after the driver lost control.

The four other occupants were taken to Alice Springs Hospital for assessment with no significant injuries.

The driver was tested for alcohol and drugs and returned a negative result.

Major Crash detectives travelled to the crash and a crime scene has been declared. The road is currently blocked to traffic and expected to be reopened around midday.

The full circumstances of the crash are being investigated and will be included in a report for the Coroner.

Police would like to remind both drivers and passengers of the importance of wearing a seatbelt.

EARLIER: ONE person has died and another four are being treated following a fatal crash near Hermannsburg.

NT Police are at the scene of a fatal crash in Central Australia.

The single vehicle crash was reported about 3.50pm Friday, about 16km west of Hermannsburg on Larapinta Dr.

The Major Crash Investigation Unit is travelling to the scene.

Larapinta Drive is closed in both directions.

Please drive with caution and obey all instructions given by police officers.
