Zarak Bolga, 44, from Katherine, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault in July for the alleged assault of his partner near the Mindil Beach Casino in Darwin.

The NT News understands his defence lawyer requested CCTV footage of the alleged incident be provided to the court, and was told by the police officer in charge, Jessica Speckman – through the prosecution – that no such footage existed.

Following a subpoena by Mr Bolga’s lawyer, Patrick McNally, the Mindil Beach Casino provided footage of the alleged incident that also appeared to show Mr Bolga had not committed the alleged assault.

Officer Speckman has now been summonsed to appear in court next week.
