NT Police are mourning the death of one of their own, their much-loved drug detector dog, Archie

A PUPTASTIC Territory hero is being remembered for his loyalty, skill and bravery following his passing.

NT Police this week announced retired drug detection dog Archie lost his short and courageous battle with a terminal illness.

Born in 2007, Archie began life as a puppy in the Australian Border Force detector dog program.

He later became a detection dog for NT Police after graduating in 2008, and joined his handler Senior Constable First Class Peter Henwood.

Archie was based in Katherine but had a prolific career working across the Territory. He later retired in 2015.

“He was one of the best dogs in the unit,” said the post.
