NT Police crack down on bikie anniversary ride in Darwin
NT POLICE, supported by the Australian Federal Police, intercepted a group of bikies riding to mark the fifth anniversary of the notorious Bandidos outlaw motorcycle gang in Darwin today.

NT POLICE, supported by the Australian Federal Police, intercepted a group of bikies riding to mark the fifth anniversary of the notorious Bandidos outlaw motorcycle gang in Darwin today.
The NT Police Force Gangs Task Force assisted by the AFP National Anti-Gangs Squad and the Australian Border Force today conducted a vehicle check point, pulling over 20 motorcyclists who were participating in the Bandidos Darwin chapter’s five-year anniversary ride.

A police spokesman said the identified Bandidos members included a number of interstate members, some of whom were club office holders.
Members of the Veterans Motorcycle Club and the Heretics Motorcycle Club also participated in the ride.
“The riders were stopped on the Stuart Highway, Palmerston and were given roadside alcohol breath and drug tests, in addition to licence and roadworthiness checks being conducted,” the spokesman said.
“One infringement notice for a bald tyre and a defect notice for a non-compliant helmet were issued.
“The NT Police will continue to act proactively to protect the community by enforcing the law and dealing with any breaches committed by members of outlaw motorcycle gangs.”

The Bandidos Darwin chapter opened in 2015 but the gang has kept a lower profile than some other clubs since that time and is understood to be low on numbers.
The Darwin chapter of the gang is understood to be based at a clubhouse in Winnellie.
