Here are some of the bad drivers who had their cases finalised in the Darwin courts in the past few weeks:
JASON KENNETH SCHMITT
Pleaded guilty to three charges:
1 Drive a motor vehicle while unlicensed
2 Exceed speed limit, 01-15km/h over limit
3 Poss thing to admin drug
He was fined $500 on March 29 and made to also pay a levy of $450.
LACHLAN JAMES TOMLIN
Pleaded guilty to two charges:
1 Drive motor vehicle cause harm or death
2 Recklessly endangering serious harm.
He was sentenced on March 30 to 18 months’ jail as home detention, suspended after six months.
He was banned from drinking for six months.
He had his licence cancelled for 12 months.
He was also handed a $2500 fine plus a $900 levy.
His sentencing was in the Supreme Court.

DARRYL LEWIS
He was charged with:
1. Drive At A Speed And In Manner Dangerous
2. Drive Vehicle Causing Loss Of Traction
3. Exceed Speed Limit 16-30km/H Over Limit
4. Drive Without Due Care
5. Driver Drive Under Influence Of Alcohol
6. Drive A Motor Vehicle While Unlicensed
7. Drive Unregistered Motor Vehicle
8. Drive Uninsured Motor Vehicle
He was sentenced on March 31 to three years’ jail, to be released after serving 18 months and put on a suspended sentence for two years.
He pleaded guilty to Drive motor vehicle cause harm or death and was fined $1600 plus a $150 levy for driving an uninsured motor vehicle.
He had his licence cancelled for five years.
SAMANTHA JANE MCCABE
Pleaded guilty to:
1 Poss schd 1 less traf qty pub
2 Poss schd 2 less traf qty pub
3 Poss thing to admin drug
4 Driver with Prohibited Drug in Body
5 Exceed speed limit, 16-30km/h over limit
6 Drive Unregistered Motor Vehicle
7 Drive uninsured motor vehicle
For all counts on April 12, 2021 she was given a 12-month Good Behaviour Bond and fined $150 for each offence.
She had her licence cancelled for 12 months.
DEREK CROWE
Pleaded guilty to:
1 Exceed speed limit, 01-15km/h over limit
2 Drive a motor vehicle while disqualified
3 Drive Medium Range Blood Alcohol Content
On April 12, he was given a six-month sentence, suspended forthwith and then put on a two-year Good Behaviour Bond.
He was disqualified for driving for 10 years.
CODY WAYNE YUKE
On April 13, he pleaded guilty to:
1 Exceed speed limit, 31-45km/h over limit
2 Driver with Prohibited Drug in Body
For count one he was given a $400 fine plus a $150 levy.
For count two he was given a $500 fine plus a $150 levy.
He had his licence disqualified for three months.
SHARON XIAO HU
On April 14, she pleaded guilty to exceed speed in a school zone by 1-15km/hr and no conviction was recorded.
She was given a $150 fine and a $150 levy.
JUSTIN THOMAS KEITH WILFRED GOLDSMITH
On April 14, he pleaded guilty to:
1 Exceed speed limit, 31-45km/h over limit
2 Drive High Range Blood Alcohol Content
3 Drive a motor vehicle while unlicensed
For count one was given a $300 fine plus a $150 levy
For count two was given a $500 fine plus a $150 levy
For count three was given a $100 fine plus a $150 levy
He had his licence cancelled for 12 months
ADRIAN DENNIS CORRIE
On April 14, they pleaded guilty to two charges:
1 Exceed speed limit, 31-45km/h over limit
2 Drive Medium Range Blood Alcohol Content
For count one was given a $300 fine plus a $150 levy
For count two was given a $600 fine plus a $150 levy
Had their licence cancelled for 11 months.
When they get their licence back, for another 12 months they have to have an alcohol ignition lock put on their car.
