MOTORISTS had a lucky escape overnight, walking from a nasty car crash on a major Darwin route overnight.
NT Watch Commander Matt Acres said passengers were lucky to escape after the shell of the car was left in a bad state on the side of the road.

“There was a crash on McMillans Road, someone had to get cut out of their car,” he said.
“There were no (major) injuries arising and we don’t think alcohol was a factor.
“Someone’s failed to give way when they’ve pulled out of Sabine Rd by the looks of it.”
St John Ambulance territory duty manager Craig Garraway said a woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries only.
“A female was taken to hospital with minor injuries, she wast he only one injured,” he said.
“She was trapped for a couple of minutes, only because there was a bit of damage to the car and she couldn’t get out.”
Mr Acres said north of Elliott, only one person had tested positive for drink driving.
“In the Northern Region, we’ve only had one identified drink driver in the last 24 hours and it was a low range reading in Pine Creek,” he said.
