A DARWIN man who has been missing for the past week may have gone camping in the Katherine and Elliott area, police say, as they continue to investigate his whereabouts.
David Gregory Mundy, 43, was last seen at the Woolworths store in Katherine on Friday, June 11, after being sighted in Darwin earlier that day.
NT Police previously reported Mr Mundy was most likely travelling south, and Special Reference Unit Detective Sergeant Wayne Newell said there was now a possibility he had gone camping.
“He did purchase some camping equipment prior to leaving Darwin, and packed his vehicle up with that sort of equipment when he left,” he said.
Det Sgt Newell said police were focusing their inquiries into Mr Mundy’s whereabouts around Katherine, Elliott and Ti Tree, but were yet to determine a defined search area.

“We believe he’s possibly gone as far south as Elliot at this time, but we’re still making inquiries,” he said.
Mr Mundy, who has lived in Darwin for years and is a coach with the Northern Districts Eagles Netball Club, was reported missing by his family on June 11.
He was driving his own vehicle – a grey Kia Sorrento with the NT registration plate CD93TF – and was wearing a yellow/gold shirt, khaki shorts and a cap at the time he went missing.
Det Sgt Newell said it was uncharacteristic for Mr Mundy to go so long without contacting his family, who were “very worried” about him.
“We’ll continue to make inquiries (and) conduct investigations, to ascertain where he was last seen,” he said.
“We’re canvassing all the areas he was last located (using) CCTV (and) the usual police inquiries.”
Police urge anyone who has seen Mr Mundy or his vehicle or has any information about his whereabouts to contact them on 131 444 and quote reference number 9708406.
