A MAN and woman have serious injuries after they were allegedly attacked during a domestic violence incident.

The 45-year-old woman’s partner, who is the brother of the male victim, is accused of assaulting the duo.

Watch Commander Acting Senior Sergeant Sonia Kennon said police were called to the Progress Dr flat at 6.50pm Tuesday after reports of a disturbance.

A/Sen-Sgt Kennon said police believed the brother attempted to intervene during the alleged incident between the couple in an effort to break it up and was seriously injured as a result.

“We haven’t been able to asscertain that there could be a weapon,” she said.

The two alleged victims were taken to Royal Darwin Hospital – the man suffering serious facial injuries.

“Neither the female nor male have been able to provide a statement yet,” A/Sen-Sgt Kennon said.

The alleged perpetrator was found a short distance away and arrested.

Police have spoken to witnesses at the scene but are calling for anyone with information to contact them on 131 444.
