A MAN who allegedly stabbed his partner to death during an alcohol fuelled “jealous fight” in Palmerston last December will face a murder trial in the Supreme Court.

Samuel Edwards, 31, was committed to stand trial after a hearing in the Darwin Local Court today following the death of 36-year-old Carol Armstrong in Moulden on December 13.

Witness Marcia Bobby told the court both Edwards and Ms Armstrong were drinking and smoking ganja throughout the day and were both “drunk and stoned” when a fight broke out between them.

Ms Bobby said Ms Armstrong had wanted to have a shower but Edwards dragged her out of the bathroom, “pulling and punching her”, before the two women went and sat down in the lounge room.

“After that when I was sitting down he got a knife from the kitchen and I got stabbed myself,” she said.

”I pulled him off (her), he went out, I went back to sit down and then he got angry, went into the kitchen and stabbed me.”

Ms Bobby said Ms Armstrong already had injuries to her face and head after Edwards hit her with a milk crate when he came in and stabbed her in the chest and stomach while she lay on the floor.

“I got stabbed and then she got stabbed,” she said.

But Ms Bobby’s mother-in-law, who lived at the house, said she didn’t see any fighting on the day because she was outside the whole time and only told police she did because Ms Bobby was “forcing” her to and she was “scared” of her.
