A man has been arrested for allegedly headbutting a police officer in overnight.

A MAN has been arrested for allegedly headbutting a police officer in Katherine overnight.
Northern Watch Commander Siiri Tennosaar said police were called to a domestic disturbance on Martin Terrace, Katherine East at around 1.40 this morning.
As police tried to arrest a 26-year-old man for alleged violent offending he punched and headbutted one of the officers in the face.
The officer suffered pain and bruising to the face but did not require medical treatment.
The man remains in custody to be interviewed later today.
He is likely to face several charges including assault police and resist police in execution of duty.
