A MAN has been taken to hospital after he was allegedly attacked with a mallet hammer in Leanyer overnight.
A separate incident saw assault charges laid against a man who allegedly spat on police.
Watch commander Len Turner said a 40-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman had been charged with aggravated robbery over the alleged mallet attack.
“It’s alleged that the two offenders assaulted a 48-year-old male before stealing his wallet,” he said.
“The parties are known to each other.
“The attack was pretty vicious, the offenders used a mallet to inflict injuries on the victim.”
The two alleged offenders have been refused bail and will appear in a local Darwin court today while the alleged victim recovers at Royal Darwin Hospital.
Meanwhile, a 38-year-old male is due to face court in April after he allegedly spat on police during watch house processing.
Cdr Turner said any assault on emergency services would not be tolerated.
