DARWIN police are searching for a group of youths who assaulted a man in the Darwin CBD before robbing him for a pack of cigarettes.
NT Police Watch Commander Acting Senior Sergeant Wayne Newell said around seven youths aged between 12 and 15 were believed to be involved.
A/Sen Sgt Newell said around 1.40am the group caused a disturbance at the Puma servo on Smith Street in the CBD before walking away towards Tomaris Court and stealing from the man.
“There was a gentleman walking along there, they’ve knocked him to the ground and stolen some cigarettes.
“The gentleman sustained some injuries to his face, his chin and his forehead. He’s been taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment, the youths have then taken off through Tomaris Court.”

A/Sen Sgt Newell said police would speak with the victim today as well as review CCTV footage.
He said nothing was taken from the service station.
He urged anyone who saw anything or may know the youths to contact Crimestoppers.
