A 29-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested after allegedly brandishing a knife and threatening security officers in the Darwin CBD this morning.

Northern Watch Commander Siiri Tennosaar said police received a report just after midnight of a man threatening security officers with a knife on Peel St.

“Upon Police arrival the male advanced on a police officer who drew a taser,” she said.

“The male then discarded the knife and was arrested without incident.

“He remains in police custody to be interviewed later today.”

He is likely to be charged with aggravated assault and possess controlled weapon.
