A MAN has been arrested for allegedly pointing a replica gun at a woman at a Darwin bus stop today.

An NT Police spokeswoman said today about 1.15pm in Malak, a 19-year-old man approached a 47-year-old woman waiting at the bus stop on Chambers Cres and Holzerland St.

The victim was confronted by the male who allegedly pointed what she believed to be a gun directly at her before he walked away down Holzerland St.

The incident was reported to police who arrested the man who had a replica firearm.

He was taken into custody at the Palmerston Watch House.

Police believe there were other people at the bus stop during the incident who were waiting for the bus to Casuarina, due to arrive at 1.27pm.

They are calling for those people to come forward to assist with inquiries.
