A 37-year-old man was charged after allegedly recording a 0.173 per cent breath alcohol content when police pulled him over in Nightcliff at 11.55pm.
He had five passengers in the car, including three young children, who were all allegedly not wearing seatbelts.
“His driving was noted by police in the area when he failed to give way at the Progress Drive roundabout,” Cdr Pusterla said.
“Another car driving through the roundabout had to take evasive action to avoid a crash.
“Fortunately there were no injuries in any of this but still some very irresponsible action by people on the roads.”
In a separate incident in Humpty Doo, a 64-year-old man was also charged with high-range drink driving after he allegedly recorded a breath alcohol content of 0.162 per cent when police stopped him along the Arnhem Hwy at about 5.45pm.
