THE owners of Darwin bar Lola’s Pergola will contest a hefty fine they were given for allegedly breaching COVID-19 regulations.

Owners Kitty and Matt Mulga were issued a $5495 fine by police in May after they were issued two warnings over eight days.

Police allege the Cullen Bay bar failed to abide by the Chief Health Officer’s directions. The issues included not serving separate meals to individuals consuming liquor, patrons not being seated while drinking and people not adhering to social-distancing guidelines.

They appeared in Darwin Local Court on Wednesday and Mr Mulga told Judicial Registrar David Kirby they planned to contest the fine.
