FORMER NSW Director of Public Prosecutions Lloyd Babb SC has arrived in the NT ahead of the murder trial of alleged Darwin shooter Ben Hoffmann.
Mr Babb replaces former NT Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Matt Nathan SC as Crown prosecutor in the case after Mr Nathan left the role in June.
Hoffmann stands charged with four counts of murder after the alleged deadly rampage in 2019 and was originally due to face trial in the Supreme Court in March.
Mr Babb was brought on board after the hearing was rescheduled to September and following Mr Nathan’s departure.
On Monday, Mr Babb appeared in the case for the first time via video link from Alice Springs after arriving and going into quarantine at the weekend.
The case returns to court on August 24 where Chief Justice Michael Grant will hear arguments about a number of witnesses expected to be called by the Crown.
