NT POLICE have fined the first person in the Territory for failing to comply with the strict new self-isolation regulations aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19.

NT POLICE have fined the first person in the Territory for failing to comply with the strict new self-isolation regulations aimed a preventing the spread of COVID-19.
A 52-year-old man in Darwin was issued a $1,099 fine on Tuesday for failing to comply with the directions of the NT Chief Health Officer.

He returned from overseas on March 23 and was subject to a 14-day self-quarantine order.
In a statement released on Tuesday, NT Police said: “The public can be assured that fines will be issued to anyone not respecting the community and doing the right thing.”

There are now 19 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the NT.
All of the people had recently returned from overseas.
