“Kennedy Rd and Barrow Rd is looking good at the moment.”

However another fire in the Risk Rd and Strangways Rd area was looking more threatening.

“It’s in a large dry creek bed, we may have to do a strategic type burn to stop it spreading later on,” Commander Lockley said.

“We are trying to contain it to the eastern side of the Stuart Hwy.

“I’m very confident the weather will ease, the wind will ease (and with) assistance of aerial bombing we’ll get on top of it in the next couple of hours.”

A fire ban has been declared for Tuesday August 25, from midnight to midnight in Darwin, Adelaide River, Batchelor and Pine Creek emergency response areas and the Litchfield Municipality and Coomalie Shire.
