Drugs allegedly found in parcels land Nhulunbuy man in court

A 29-YEAR-old man from Nhulunbuy will front court today charged with a string of drug and firearm offences.

The man was arrested yesterday while collecting parcels which police allege contained 1.4g of lysergic acid (LSD), 5g of amphetamine and 1g of cocaine.

Police then raided the man’s house where they allegedly found, with the help of drug detection dogs, 57g of cannabis, 0.001g of LSD, two loaded rifles in an unsecured gun safe, $9000 cash, unsecured ammunition and multiple prescription pills.

The man was charged with:

  • 1 X possess schedule 1 dangerous drug – commercial quantity
  • 1 X supply schedule 1 dangerous drug – commercial quantity
  • 1 X possess schedule 1 dangerous drug – trafficable quantity
  • 2 X possess schedule 1 dangerous drug
  • 2 X supply schedule 1 dangerous drug – less than commercial quantity
  • 1 X possess schedule 2 dangerous drug – trafficable quantity
  • 1 X possess tainted property
  • 1 X unauthorised possession of schedule 4 substance
  • 1 X drive while disqualified
  • 1 X possess firearm while unlicensed
  • 1 X possess ammunition while unlicensed
  • 2 X fail to meet storage requirements.

He was remanded custody to appear in the Darwin Local Court via video link from Nhulunbuy today.
