Man arrested for DUI, driving on tyre’s rim in Darwin, with five children unrestrained, three other adults in car
A man has been charged with several offences, including mid-range DUI, after veering into the path of a police officer in Darwin while driving on the rim a blown tyre, with five children who were all unrestrained, and three other adults in the car.

A MAN has been charged with several driving-related offences after driving into the path of a police officer with a flat tyre.
NT Police Watch Commander Senior Sergeant Sonia Kennon said a Palmerston sergeant was travelling along Roystonea Ave to a report of a crash on Wednesday.
“As he approached the entrance to Gateway Shopping Centre, a black Honda veered into the members path.
“Upon closer inspection, the vehicle had a blown rear tyre and was travelling on its rim.
“The vehicle was apprehended and the 56-year-old male driver was subjected to a roadside breath test, providing a positive result.
“Within the vehicle there were three other adults and five children aged between one and 13 years who were all unrestrained.

“The driver was conveyed to the watch-house where he provided a positive reading of 0.139 blood alcohol reading.
“The male’s reason for travelling in the vehicle is that he had a flat tyre with no spare so he was driving to Karama to get it fixed.”
The man was charged with driving medium range drink driving, driving unlicensed, driving unsafely and driving with six people unfastened.
