A YOUNG girl with an intellectual disability who went missing from a remote outstation in Central Australia yesterday has been found.

According to NT Police, the girl is undergoing health checks but seems to be well.

Acting Superintendent Michael Potts said due to the remote location, other details of the successful search are to be confirmed.

“Northern Territory Police would like to thank everyone involved in the search. Significant resources were deployed to assist in the operation,” he said.

“It’s a huge relief for everyone involved.”

A YOUNG girl with an intellectual disability is missing from a remote outstation in Central Australia.

NT Police have started a helicopter search today for the four-year-old girl missing from a community near Titjikala (Maryvale) after she was reported missing around 2pm yesterday.

Police were notified the girl was last seen by family at the Alice Outstation near Alice Well, which is off Finke Road near the Finke Track.

Police assets including a drone, dog operations and patrol vehicles were deployed to the area to search for the girl.

The girl, who is described as being of Indigenous in appearance with light skin, ‘wild’ black curly hair, was last seen wearing a pink and black dress.

She is autistic and has a hearing impairment. Her family advise she is non-verbal.

Watch Commander Senior Sergeant Adrian Kidney urged anyone in the area to keep an eye out for a child in the area.

“Obviously a young child alone would spark concern in anyone, so we urge anyone in the area to please keep an eye out for this little one and call us immediately if you find her.

“Her family are beside themselves with worry.”
