Woman dies at Palmerston bus stop after suffering suspected heart attack

A 55-YEAR-OLD woman has died at the Palmerston Bus Exchange this afternoon after suffering a suspected heart attack.

A 55-YEAR-OLD woman has died at the Palmerston Bus Exchange this afternoon after suffering a suspected heart attack.

NT Police and St John Ambulance responded to reports of a woman who had collapsed in the Palmerston CBD about 2.40pm today.

The woman died at the scene.

Police do not believe the death to be suspicious.

However, investigations are continuing.

A reporter will be prepared for the coroner.

At 4.40pm, the body was laying in the carpark of the bus exchange.

A tent had been erected around it.

A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics had been called to the bus stop about 2.30pm but no patients had been taken to hospital.

The NT News believes the woman died of a heart attack.

Earlier reports indicated it was a stabbing.

At least four police cars were in attendance at the scene.
