NT Police have arrested and charged an 18-year-old man after a worker was stabbed in the stomach in the loading dock of Woolworths.

A WORKER in Alice Springs was allegedly stabbed in the stomach in the loading dock of Woolworths on Thursday.

An 18-year-old man was arrested over the alleged incident a short time after it occurred.

Alice Springs Watch Commander Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said the worker was approached by the alleged offender around 7.20am Thursday.

He said there was an alleged altercation before he was allegedly stabbed in the stomach.

“The 18-year-old male fled the area and was arrested a short time later by police, still in possession of the weapon,” he said.

He said the man was treated at the Alice Springs Hospital for the wound.

The 18-year-old was charged and refused bail.
