A WOMAN who allegedly struck a cyclist with her car while drink driving outside a Darwin church last month has again successfully applied for an adjournment to seek legal advice.
Police charged Aleisha Ellan Mohrwinkel with mid-range drink driving and not stopping to assist after a crash following the incident on the afternoon of August 24 and she again faced the Darwin Local Court on Tuesday.
Mohrwinkel had already applied for an adjournment last month, saying “I believe some of the matters that were in (the police brief) were not correct” and told the court she had now secured legal representation.
At the time of the crash police said a bystander had described Mohrwinkel’s car after she drove off and she was tracked down and arrested about 20 minutes later.
“The bike rider was treated at the scene for bruising and abrasions,” watch commander Richard Howie said. “The rider was extremely lucky to have not been more seriously injured.”
Mohrwinkel returns to court on October 5.
