Police are investigating two serious home invasions and assault incidents in Tennant Creek on Saturday morning.
Just before 5am police received a report that a group of five males had forced their way into a caravan and assaulted the occupant with iron bars after threatening the man and demanding money.
The offenders then ransacked the caravan and stole items from the man before leaving.
St John Ambulance attended the scene and the man was taken to Tennant Creek Base Hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries.
Shortly after 5am police then received a report of a robbery in Boag Court, Tennant Creek, involving four males including three youths and an adult.
They forced entry to the residence by smashing a window and once inside a male occupant of the house was struck across the shoulder with a broomstick by the adult offender, who then demanded the resident hand over his car keys and wallet.
The three youths then attempted to enter a room where the man’s wife and children were hiding, but they were able to push back and keep the door closed.
The youths then ransacked the premises before fleeing and stealing a 2007 Mitsubishi 380 with NT registration 989922.
The vehicle was involved in an incident soon after at Mulga Camp before it was found abandoned on Peko Road.
Police are still trying to determine whether the Boag Court and Ambrose Street incidents were connected.
Police would appreciate any assistance to solve both crimes by calling 131444 with job NTP 2300013215 for Boag Court and 2300013215 for the Ambrose Street incident.
