NT Police have renewed their call for information after two people tragically died in a remote crash last week.

A 32-year-old woman and 44-year-old man died at the scene, while a third person was taken to Tennant Creek Hospital following the crash.

Sergeant Sean Aila said police urged anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the vehicle to come forward with information.

“Major Crash detectives are calling for any witnesses that may have been on the Barkly and Stuart Highways, on the morning of Thursday 11 August 2022 between the hours of 2am – 6am, to make contact on 131 444,” he said.

“We are particularly interested in the movements of a light blue 2007 Mitsubishi Dual Cab 4WD Triton with distinctive features including a canopy and light bar.”

INTIAL: TWO people have died in a single vehicle crash near Tennant Creek.

A report of the crash, 75km north of the town, was made about 6am on Thursday.

Two adults were found dead at the scene while a third was taken to Tennant Creek Hospital.

The age and genders of the people who died is not known.

Detectives from Tennant Creek and Major Crash are on scene investigating.

The Stuart Highway is open but road restrictions will remain in place.

Delays are expected and drivers are urged to slow down when approaching the area.

Motorists are advised to take Churchills Head Rd as an alternative route where possible.

The Northern Territory’s road death toll is now 36, above 2021’s total of 35.
