NT Police are continuing to work to formally identify two men killed in a crash in the Victoria Daly Region at the weekend.

Police received reports around midday Saturday that a single vehicle had rolled over on the Buntine Highway, between Top Springs and the Victoria Highway.

Police said two of the occupants were declared dead at the scene while a third person was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police confirmed the men were aged 43 and 41.

The 22-year-old man was in a stable condition at the Royal Darwin Hospital on Sunday.

Major Crash detectives were sent to the area and a crime scene was declared as a result of the incident.

According to the NT Police Fire and Emergency Incident Map the crash appeared to have been in the middle of Kalkarindji.

However an NT Police spokesman later confirmed the location was actually on the Buntine Highway, about 80km outbound from the Victoria Highway.

He said investigators remained at the scene on Sunday morning but had gathered all evidence by 3pm, at which point the road fully reopened to traffic.

Police were still working to formally identify the deceased throughout Monday as the investigation continued.

The crash is the first double-fatality this year and brings the Territory’s road toll to 11, compared to 32 at this point in 2022.

Four of those killed this year were pedestrians.
