NT Police investigated after bullet was discovered outside a Top End ambulance station, with paramedics told to be aware of the potential security threat.

St John Ambulance staff were warned about the discovered at Palmerston Ambulance Station on Thursday after suspicious items were spotted outside the centre.

The NT News has obtained an email from Darwin Regional Manager to staff at 1.35pm to confirm that “an unusual group of items were located … which appropriately raised some concerns”.

NT Police were called to investigate and discovered “a number small items including a single round of ammunition” near a bin on Gurd Street, Farrar.

“Police attended and have seized the round for destruction,” a spokesman said.

“Police have received no reports of threats.”

St John Ambulance told staff that the security incident should serve as a reminder to report any potential safety issues or “any unusual behaviour by members of the public in and around your work area”.

“While no one was in direct danger and no threats were made, this serves as a reminder to remain vigilant with your own security and that of your colleagues,” it said.

“Please make sure to lock gates and doors when leaving our premises.

“St John NT places the safety of our staff at the highest of our priorities.”

St Johns Ambulance was contacted for additional comment.
