Road toll passes last year after Daly River fatal
The horror year on Territory roads continued with police investigating a fatal crash at the weekend. Here’s what we know.

About 7pm on Sunday emergency services responded to reports of a single vehicle crash 18km west of Daly River along the Daly River Road.
The 71-year-old male driver and 77-year-old female passenger were conveyed to the local clinic for treatment.
The 77-year-old was transferred to Royal Darwin Hospital on Monday for further treatment. She died on Wednesday at RDH.
The 71-year-old suffered non-life-threatening injuries and tested negative for alcohol.
The couple are believed to be local to the area and police are providing support to the family.
The Major Crash Investigation Unit have since taken carriage of the investigation and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Investigations into the crash remain ongoing.
The Territory’s death toll is currently at 32, compared with seven for the same time last year and 31 for the whole of 2023.
