NT Police have seized 150L of alcohol bound for remote communities along the Roper Highway.
Northern Watch Commander Steve Langdon said the seizure, on Saturday, was part of a road campaign targeting drugs and alcohol police allege would be smuggled into restricted areas.
“Unfortunately people are still trying to smuggle alcohol into those restricted areas,” Commander Langdon said.
“Alcohol in restricted areas can lead to anti-social behaviour and violent crime - it’s disappointing people are still ignoring the rules.”
Commander Langdon said police from Katherine’s Northern Traffic Unit and general duties officers from Numbulwar and Ngukurr pulled over 14 vehicles during the campaign.
Two drivers were arrested and two more were issued with notices to appear at court, Commander Langdon said.
