POLICE are searching for a driver who may have witnessed a crash in which a 54-year-old motorcyclist died.
On June 22 about 7.45pm, authorities were notified of a crash between a car and motorcycle on the Stuart Hwy at Noonamah.
The car driver remained on the scene and the motorcyclist died.
In a statement on July 4, police say CCTV footage from a nearby service station partially captured the incident and recorded a vehicle travelling near the motorcycle.
“The motorist appears to brake and swerve to avoid the damaged motorcycle on the road, within a few seconds of the crash occurring and continued driving south,” the statement reads.
“Major Crash detectives seek help from the public to identify the driver of this dark-coloured vehicle who may be a witness to the crash. It is not known why the driver failed to stop.”
Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner urged the driver to assist with the investigation.
“Detectives will use this footage to cross-reference other CCTV and recording devices in nearby locations prior to the crash to identify this vehicle,” he said.
