August 8: Northern Territory police have found the body of a 50-year-old man who went missing following a hunting trip.

The man’s family raised alarm with emergency services after the man did not return on Sunday, after he went into the mangroves near Milingimbi.

His body was found by the Search and Rescue team within the mangroves on Wednesday night.

Police said the circumstances of his death are believed to be non-suspicious with a report set to be prepared for the Coroner.

In a statement, an NT Police spokesperson said officers were providing support to the family and community.

August 6: Police are searching for a 50-year-old man who went missing after leaving on a hunting trip in western Arnhem Land on Sunday.

The man’s family raised the alarm with officers on Monday after the man reportedly ventured into mangroves and tidal flats near Milingimbi at about midday the previous day and failed to return.

NT Police Search and Rescue Section members arrived on Tuesday morning and joined community members and local police already out looking for the man.

Acting Senior Sergeant Zac Winkworth said a helicopter had been deployed and was in the process of surveying the area for any sign of him.

“ Police, along with the man’s family, have serious concerns for his welfare and we are urging everyone in the area to keep an eye out so we can bring him home safely,” he said.

“Anyone with information is urged to call 131 444 or to visit your local station.”
