A flight from the Red Centre to the Top End has ended with a court date for one 45-year-old man, who was escorted off the flight – with his wife – after he allegedly assaulted a flight attendant while drunk.
NT Police said the flight was preparing to leave Alice Springs on Friday when a flight attendant asked the man to move from the emergency exit row.
The man was “identified as an intoxicated passenger” by the attendant, police said.
When he was asked to exit the plane, the man allegedly assaulted the 50-year-old male flight attendant by hitting him in the face, police said.
The flight attendant did not require treatment, police, who met the man and his wife outside the plane, said.
The flight made it to Darwin, while the man was charged with assaulting a worker.
He is on bail, and will appear in Darwin Local Court on Friday.
