THE ballistics report from a police shooting of a Palmerston teenager has been finalised.
Peter Skeen, 19, was shot at six times by police during a confrontation in Gray on March 8.
Police alleged Skeen threatened two officers with a spear during an early morning encounter.
It was alleged the teenager ignored repeated warnings to drop the spear, resulting in one officer deploying a taser around the same time as their partner fired their gun six times in quick succession.
Legal teams met at Darwin Local Court on Monday before Chief Judge Elizabeth Morris asked for a six-week adjournment to assess new evidence.
The court heard that a ballistics report from New South Wales had been completed five months after the shooting.
It was sent to both defence and prosecution on Friday.
The Palmerston man was taken to hospital in a critical condition and remained in an induced coma for 13 days.
Skeen’s family previously said four bullets hit the teenager and he suffered gunshot wounds to the chest, neck and abdomen.
On Monday, Ms Morris heard the now 20-year-old was out of hospital but still undergoing intensive rehabilitation.
Skeen was charged with recklessly endangering life, assaulting police and going armed in public after allegedly threatening officers.
His matter will return to court on September 26.
