NT Police are calling for information following a large disturbance in Katherine that left an 18-year-old in hospital in a serious condition after he was struck by a car.
CCTV operators reported the disturbance involving multiple people at the rear of the service station on Railway Terrace about 12.55am Wednesday.
A HiLux was spotted driving erratically and ramming into unoccupied vehicles multiple time as well as driving at people in the area.
An 18-year-old male was struck by the vehicle during the incident and later taken to Katherine Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The group, including the alleged driver of the vehicle, allegedly fled the area upon police arrival.
A crime scene was declared with multiple weapons seized from inside the vehicle.
Acting Commander Terry Zhang said the “reckless and dangerous behaviour” had no place in the community.
“We understand this incident may be linked to an ongoing feud between community groups,” he said.
“Police will be working closely with community leaders and cultural authorities to help de-escalate tensions and prevent any further violence.
“Additional resources will be deployed to enhance our presence and ensure community safety.
“Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 131 444.”
